Newport Show 2019

Rene does the double!

What a purchase she has been for Seaton Farms! Following on from her success at Shropshire show, Hawksmoor Rene 50 walked away with interbreed champion at the 110th Newport Show.

Rene calved in October and is still producing over 60 Litres a day and is projected to put up a massive lactation of over 19,000 Litres.

As in 2018, we won all three milking classes:

Styche Paramount Cactus - Heifer in milk & interbreed heifer champion.

Styche Milo Mona - Second calver, reserve Holstein champion & Exhibitor bred champion

Hawksmoore Rene 50 - Third calver, champion Holstien & interbreed dairy champion.

We also won Holstein group of three and interbreed group of three.

Despite all of the above success the show highlight for us is seeing the next generation of young handlers getting their teeth into the world of showing and appreciating good cows and stockmanship. We took calves for our two children William & George, nephew Louis and two young staff members.

William was thrilled to walk away with a rosette and George who is under age managed to charm the judge into 4th place. Louis did a wonderful job with his broken thumb walking away with 2nd to a strong Isla Arrell who did a wonderful job to come home 1st with her Jersey calf.

Grace who is our calf manager lead her calf Styche Samite Hilgonda who was Williams calf last year at Newport, Louis' calf at the joint calf show and also went to Shropshire with Grace this year.

Jake who has been with us for several years and turned 16 this year had his first opportunity to show and worked hard to choose and train his calf Styche Evolve Stella and is looking forward to showing again at the Shropshire calf show in Autumn.
